Learn how Flagstaff can help independent businesses thrive, create more local wealth and maintain a vital, sustainable community!
Thursday, April 13 at 8 am – 12 pm
Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation (510 N Leroux)
On April 13th, Flagstaff Independent Business Alliance (FIBA) will host a presentation and workshop illustrating the many benefits our community reaps from nurturing and supporting local, independent businesses and showing how we can help local entrepreneurs and our economy prosper in the face of today’s challenges.
You’ll learn about achievements realized from dozens of successful campaigns and the keys to replicating that success in Flagstaff. With a number of new challenges facing Flagstaff’s small businesses such as the increased minimum wage, it is more critical than ever that we build a culture of support for our local entrepreneurs. By working together we can further develop the economic vitality of Flagstaff while enhancing and preserving its unique character.
We will learn:
- How we can teach the greater community about why it’s important to buy local;
- How to build a culture of support for local entrepreneurism;
- How to make your local government an ally: build positive relationships, recognizing what matters to local officials, and leveraging the power of government procurement and contracting to benefit your constituency.
Presenter Jeff Milchen founded and directed the nation’s first Independent Business Alliance and has helped nearly 100 communities across America to organize successfully. He’s an internationally-published writer and popular speaker on economic localization and community empowerment.
This presentation is free and open to any Flagstaff community member or business owner interested in protecting Flagstaff’s unique character and supporting our local businesses.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
